We made a graphical representation of events regarding the capture of Ipolysag by the Red Army during the battles of late 1944 north of Budapest in Slovakia. These battles are portrayed in the new Douglas Nash Book, “The Defeat of the Damned: The Destruction of the Dirlewanger Brigade at the Battle of Ipolysag, December 1944”.

We’ve took one of the most famous diorama’s “Unternehmen Südwind, Hungary 1945” from acclaimed Dutch military modeler Roger Hurkmans and reimagined the scene. An RSO tractor struggling to pull over an artillery piece. We constructed a new landscape, inspired in hungary’s landscape, winter and architecture. We used over 15 images to compose this image.
